Hiking in the Arctic Circle area

Hiking in the Arctic Circle area and the Svartisen- Saltfjellet National park. Mo i Rana is surrounded by the largest wilderness area in Europe with the national park and Vindelfjellen nature reserve just across the border in Sweden. The area is excellent for hiking adventures.
With starting point in Mo i Rana you will find the most varied and exciting hiking destination in Scandinavia within an hour from the city centre. An area that stretches from Træna on the Helgeland coast to the Tärna mountains in Sweden. The adventures could be in Norway's largest archipelago and ocean activities,
or mountain peaks and glaciers like Svartisen and Okstindan. This is where you'll find the great wilderness area with a lot of marked trails and cabins.
The Rambler association's "Nordlandstrail" is one the most popular hiking areas. Here you can hike from cabin to cabin from the mountainous Okstintindan in the south to the Saltfjellet cabin up north in our area.
Other popular destinations are the old Nasa mines, the beautiful valleys Stormdalen, Tespdalen, Glomdalen, Leirskardalen, Brygfjelldalen and the area from Mo i Rana along E12 towards Sweden or Nesna.
In most of these areas there are very good conditions for fishing and hunting.These areas are equal suitable by foot or if you want to go skiing. In the Winter there are very good conditions for skiing in marked tracks or if you want to go off piste.
On the Swedish side of the border you can go hiking along the beautiful Kungsleden or Laisaliden.
